The World Athletics has endorsed Tobi Amusan’s new World Record in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Amusan broke the record at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America in July.
The 25-year-old is now officially the first Nigerian to hold a World Record.
Amusan broke a new World Record of 12.12 in the semi-final to beat the old time of 12.20 set by USA’s Kendra Harrison in London in 2016.
Amusan followed that astounding performance with a wind-assisted 12.06 (2.5m/s) to win the final.
Amusan also broke the African record of 12.40 in the 100m hurdles heat.
