The France midfielder Paul Pogba might not come back to action until January due to his knee injury which requires urgent surgery, This was said by the Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri on Monday, doubting if Paul Pogba will be fit and ready for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The france midfielder has made up his mind to go for surgery after his meniscus has been damaged in training following his return to Juventus from Manchester United in this summer, but the Juventus manager said plans had changed after he tried to return back to training.
This morning he went for training for the second time but suddenly stopped and concluded he will go for surgery. We shall do everything possible to make him bounce back in January,” Allegri made this statement to reporters before Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Paris Saint-Germain. The Juventus manager doubted if Pogba would be fit for France’s World Cup defense, which will kick-off in November, “The World Cup is not my problem, Juventus’ problem is that he comes back in January” said the manager.
Pogba was helpful in France’s World Cup victory in 2018 in Russia, when he scored in the final where they beat Croatia 4-2. He has scored 11 goals in 91 appearances for France.
Juventus and PSG are both in the same Champions League Group H along with Benfica and Maccabi Haifa. Allegri said his team needed at least 10 points to qualify for the knockout stages, saying that PSG are one of their major problems in their group.
He continued by saying “We face an opponent who is among the strongest in Europe, who this year I see as a favorite for the final,” Allegri said. “Tomorrow will be a good match, and we shall hopefully try to play a great game.”
