Despite the misery of Africa and globalization, some African countries are still subject to dictatorships. There are 5 African presidents who have done a lot of mandate and continue to lead these countries despite their age.
5. Issayas Afewerki
Issayas Aferwerki became president 29 years ago in Eritrea. He is the 5th in our ranking, he has been leading the country since 1993 but started to lead since 1991.
President Aferwerki was born on February 2 in 1946, under Italian colonization, in Eritrea with the British administration. He is an Eritrean statesman and businessman. He has been at the top of the presidency since the independence of Eritrea in 1993.
4. Yoweri Mouseveni
His total 36 years on the throne and the presidency of Uganda, Yoweri Mouseveni is fourth in our list of African presidents who have lasted in power.
Indeed Yoweri Museveni, was born on August 15, 1944 in Ntoungamo, Uganda. He is a Ugandan statesman and businessman, he has been in power in the Republic of Uganda since 1986. Despite his very advanced age, Yoweri still sees himself as capable of leading his empire.
3. Denis Sassou Nguesso
With 38 years in power in the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso takes 3rd place in our ranking of African presidents who do not want to leave power despite their age.
Denis Sassou-Nguesso, known by the military helmet and a Congolese statesman who was born in 1943 in Edou. He became and first led the presidency of the Republic of Congo from 1979 to 1992.
To this, he has been president again since 1997, after a rebellion that overthrew ruling president Pascal Lissouba in Congo Brazzaville’s civil war. As usual, his return to power in 1997 was accepted and recognized by the international community.

He is a Cameroonian statesman and businessman. He has been the President of the Republic of Cameroon since November 6, 1982. 1. Théodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo
With 40 years of unchallenged reign in Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is the African president who has remained in power the longest in Africa.
Namely, Théodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo was born on June 5, 1942.
A soldier by profession, Obiang already held several positions under the presidency of his own uncle Francisco Macías Ngouéma. In 1979, he overthrew his uncle Macías in a military coup and became the indisputable ruler of Equatorial Guinea, first as president of the Supreme Military Council from 1979 to 1982.
Then as the president of Equatorial Guinea since 1982. He has controlled the emergence of his country as a major oil producer in Africa since the 1990s.
